Two versions of 1939-40 1./JG54 insignia

Hello,

During the 1939-first half of 1940 period, 1./JG 54 had two different versions of the chimney-sweep insignia which was painted on the fuselage below the cockpit.

Version 1: first seems to appear when the 1940-style camouflage appeared, and consisted of a side view of a walking all-black chimney sweep carrying a ladder over his shoulder.

Version 2: apparently appeared sometime during the spring of 1940, but probably before the western campaign, and certainly before the Battle of Britain. This consisted of a black chimney sweep, standing and looking at the viewer, with a large white ladder over his shoulder and a large circular brush over the other.

Does anyone know when the changeover between these two versions of the emblem took place?

Does anyone have photo examples of either of these that they would be willing to share or trade via email attachments? I'm aware of the photos in all the standard literature sources, including Prien's JFV series, and am looking for photos that I might not have.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hey

In books of Mr. Prien is standing, that the Version 1 was employed up to April/May 1940, the Version 2 was employed at this time.
