Trolley Missions 1945

Hi everybody !

In May 1945 and thereafter, 8th AF dispatched "Trolley Run's" over Germany to give the ground personnel the opportunity of seeing the destruction they had helped to promote. Those missions normally went over France (including Paris), Western Germany, showing Cologne and Frankfurt and then returning to England.
Does anyone know something about an accident while those kind of missions, which caused the loss of a 4-engined bomber on or abou May 8th, 1945 in the Bon-Remagen area in Germany ?.

Thank you

Horst Weber

Horst:

"Trolley" missions are not listed specifically, but on May 8/45, one 1st Div B-17 of the 351st BG was lost due to fire, and salvaged, and a 2nd Div a/c of the 447th BG had a crash landing and was salvaged. On May 10th 2 others had a mid-air collision but it was over Braintree, not continental Europe.
