I think that Rabe Anton has ID’d a photo in Ed West’s posting of 6-27.Reference is to the port side empennage photo of the Bf 109F-2 WNr. 9174 that Ed West posted in the Photos 6-27 displaying 30 Abschuße. LwGQM 4840/41:16 - 29.08.41 on this machine on 25 Aug. 1941 - 60 per., 9./JG 54, Wesenberg (Rakvere), Estonia, Rollschaden. Prien, et al, JFl.Verbände, 6/II, p. 264, tells us that the WNr. 9174 as photo'd could only have belonged to Oblt. u. Stkp. Hans-Ekkehard Bob, 9./JG 54. Prien also gives him claim no. 31 on 24 July 1941, which squares almost perfectly with other facts. A tally of 30 would be only 1 off for Bob as of 25 Aug. 1941, AND more importantly, no other pilot in the 9./JG 54 was anywhere close to a score of 30 at about this time. Comments?
