Fritz Gromotka

Hello

I am hoping that someone can help with some additional loss list information for another ace of JG 27, this time Leutnant Fritz Gromotka (29 victories, RK), who I know was shot down on the following days: 21 May 1942 possibly by F/Sgt Tom Hindle (3 confirmed, 2 probable and 2 damaged victories, killed in action 31 May 1942) of 260 Sqn, RAF while serving with 6. Staffel and 2 July 1944 while serving with 9. Staffel. If any one who has this information would care to share it would be very helpful.

Horrido!

Hi Leo

I have Gromotka shot down in aerial combat on 21 May 1942, emerging unhurt from the subsequent crash-landing of his Bf 109 F-4 (WNr 7410), east of Tmimi.

Sorry, no info for his July 1944 incident.

Hope you're well!!

Cheers
Gordon

Hi Gordon

I hope that all is well with you. Many thanks for the information on Gromotka. I do not know if he was wounded when shot down on 2 July 1944 so it is very possible that there is nothing about that incident. Many thanks for your response. Please take care!

Hi digedag1

Many thanks for your post. I was not aware that he was wounded when shot down on 2 July 1944 so your information was very nice to have. I did read that he was shot down as well on 31 May 1942 and temporarily listed as missing in action but am rather confused if this was a separate incident or the same as the 21 May 1942 occasion only that the date was somehow mixed up? If this was a seperate incident would someone know which fighter he was flying that day? I am very grateful for your help.

Horrido!

No entry for 21/05/42! --> date is wrong for Gromotka.
31/5/1942 Fw. Gromotka MIA - returned the next day.
Plane was hit in the radiator.
