Ogr. Thomas Schwertl in France May 7. 1944

Good evening!
Is it possible to find out more about the fate of this airman. In "Gräbersuche" it is written, that he was killed in Raum Laon and is now burried in Fort - de - Malmaison in France.
Thank You in advance.
Christian

Morning Christian,

I found this in Don Caldwell's book "The JG 26 War Diary":

Ogefr. Thomas SCHWERTL - 3./JG 26 (Fw.190A-8,yl 3)(170401), possibly shot down by a spitfire of No.411 Squadron and crashed near Athies 11 km north of Laon/Fr. He scored no victories.
Best wishes from a rainy Belgium,

Dirk

Hello Christian,

Glad to be helpful, I'm a (plastic) modeller myself. So if the model is ready I would be pleased to receive a scan of the finished model.
Best wishes,

Dirk

Hi Dirk!
I do not yet have a model of Schwertl´s plane obviously, but i have built Uffz. L. Schlögl´s Fw 190, also from JG 26. He fell 24.05. 1944.
I also have his picture from a death card.
Best wishes
Christian

Did you know this site: http://www.absa39-45.asso.fr/formula...ase_pertes.PHP

Only in French but very useful as a quick reference for a name (use: the link RECHERCHE PAR UN NOM). The only French you should need after is for two buttons "envoi" (= submit) and "RAZ" (= cancel)
