Looking for a Bf109/110 spinner dataplate

1 Attachment(s)
The attached image came from Kagero's M.J.Murawski Bf110 Vol. I, page 9.

It depicts the dataplates attached to the two main parts of the Bf109E and Bf110C to E spinner, near its lock - which as you all probably know - was painted in a square red.

I would like to know if any of the collectors and researchers have a closer image of this specific dataplate to share, because I would like to figure out how it really looks and what is written on it. I think that the dataplates on Bf109/110 F rounded spinners are different, by the way.

Thank you in advance,

Fernando Estanislau

In 1984 while working on the "Bf 110G" narrative for Monogram, I received a note from Tom Hitchcock which noted that the spinners for the Me 210, as well as the Bf 110F and G were all part number 9-12078.301. This was from VDM. So, perhaps they were the same for the 109F and G, especially as Mtt tried to keep any development expenses on his "old" aircraft to a minimum.

Hi George!

G parts numbers were 9-12087.31 (you have a mistake on the last digits). This is the dataplate from my G-10 Spinner. It is possible the F has different, but I do not think so. You can see it is suitable for 4 appications...probably the DB605's in the Me-110, Me210, Me109, etc.

George, it is always nice to hear from you.

Yes, I agree that since the rounded spinners for Bf109F and onwards are the same for Me210 an Bf110F and G, probably the dataplates are the same.

I meant that the previous spinners had the dataplates in a different design, compare the details in the image provided by me and harrison987 (thank you, by the way).

Wonder why early spinner dataplate images are so difficult to find...

Cheers.

Thanks for that correction, Harrison! And thanks for passing on the photo of the G-10 spinner.
All the best,
George

Here is another spinner dataplate. This one is from the restored Bf 109G-4 WNr.19310.

best regards,
Tomislav

Thank you, Tomislav. Indeed both have different layout. Do you think they are original pieces or some kind of adaptation made by the restoration crew?

Regards,

Fernando

Thank you very much for posting that photo, Tomislav.

If you look carefully at the blocks for lettering on the two 109G tags, Fernando, and taking into account that the black background on the Bf 109 G-10 tag is much faded, you can tell that they have the same layout.

All the best,
George
