Hi Delmenhorst,

I'm looking for info on the Jakob Vogel that flew with 8./JG1. He claimed a Mustang at 1917h on 14 July 1944.

Thanks

There are 7 mentions of him in Vol 2 of Dr. Priens JG 1 and 11 history, according to the index in my vol 3. ADIK report 390/1944 available through the Public Records Office reports on his capture,

Hi Brian,

I'm trying to put together a short bio, year of birth and death, number of kills, any special mentions, etc. I do not have access to the book you mention and would appreciate it if you could help me.

The reason for my request is that Vogel, along with Herbert Ihlefeld and Alfred Grislawski, shot down a Mustang at 1917h on July 14, 1944.

My father, while flying a Mustang, was shot down at that time on that day. (He was aided by the Maquis and successfully evaded capture for six weeks while behind the lines.)

One, and possibly all three of them had to be the one(s). I personally believe it was all three of them that shot my father down because in my father's E & E Report, he stated,

"I was flying on a tactical recce with another Mustang in the Lisieux/Bernay area when I was attacked by five or six Me 109s. Three were actually firing on me. I took eveasive action but was hit by two cannon shells.........."

I have a short story being published soon and would like some info on Vogel to include. I have info on Ihlefeld and Grislawski.

Thanks,

Neil

And I happen to have a copy (see attachments). Sorry about the quality but it came from microfilm. The PRO/NA has it on real paper though.

Thanks very much Nick.

Does anyone know where I can get mission summaries or war diaries for Stab/JG1 and 8./JG1 that would cover 14 July 1944?

Looking for info that could determine if it was Herbert Ihlefeld or Alfred Grislawski that shot my father down.

Neil
