On 19.01.1940 Lt. Wolfgang Wagner was brought down in combat with French MS 406 planes near Mühlhausen. He however was able to bail out successfully and was then taken pow. He belonged to Jagdstaffel 2./JG 54 under Staffelkapitän Hptm. Richard Paulitsch based at airfield Böblingen Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-1 - WNr.6037 - Rote 5 Greetings from Norway Knut |

Wagner was wounded in the foot, FSA, lost the foot to subsequent amputation.

Wolfgang Wagner was Unteroffizier. not Leutnant. He was shot down by an Polit of the G.C. II/7 und baled out at Strunhütt. His last Staffelführer was Lt. Goedecke, Hptm. Paulitsch was woundet in a fight on the 21.12.1939. Wolfgang Wagner wrote some Articels an Books, he died last year. Christian |
