Lancaster GI-O No.622 Sqdn.

Hello Everybody,

I'm looking for a picture of Lancaster GI-O, PA285, from No.622 Sqdn. or its crew.
The Lancaster departed Mildenhall on 20.04.1945 to bomb the oil storage at Regensburg. 5km SE of Regensburg it was shot down by Flak and crashed in a field. All but one of the crew were killed. Several years ago one engine of the bomber has been recovered.

The crew names were:

2.Lt Dietrichson RNAF, KIA
F/L V.S.Robbins, KIA
Sgt R.W.Reid, KIA
F/O B.F.Scott, RNZAF KIA
F/O H.A.Smith, KIA
F/S J.E.Hulland, KIA
F/S E.Parker, Inj.

All additional information about the aircraft or its crew is also appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Matthias

Just out of interest Matthias, what is the source of your information so far?

Hello Max,

The source is www.lostbombers.co.uk.
All I know is what I wrote above.

Use that site with caution Matthias. Most of it is a copy of Bill Chorley's "Bomber Command Losses" volumes, however there are many mistakes in the bits that the website author has added from his own "research".
