FW190A4 at the end of WW2
Could anybody help to get some information?
I'm looking for everthing about FW 190A4 at the end of WW2 war. I know there were few in use while the battles for Lithuania and Latvia in 1944 (autumn). Once I got an foto of one A4 (october 1944), but I can't find it now. I tried to find myself, but most WW2-sites don't have an particular information (for example http://www.ww2.dk/). So, It'd be great if somebody could help me. I'm interested in ALL FW190A4 (I mean the air units) which were used during fall of 1944 and winter-spring of 1945 (JG54 maybe). Thank you. UPD: also if somebody has a detailed list of JG54 planes 1944-45, share please even specific books about JG54 (like "Osprey: Jagdgeschwader 54 Grunherz") don't consist of such information, just FW190A etc. |
Fw 190 A-4
Hello Bambarbia
You already have mentioned that you have seen it before but your best bet that I am aware of to discover which particular types were used by the various units is the Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen at www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/flugbew.htm For what I have been able to note, there was at least one Fw 190 A-4 listed as being on the strength of both I. and II./JG 54 as late as December 1944. It appears that the Stabsstaffel of JG 51, which was the only Fw 190 unit of JG 51 by mid-1944, began equipping with the Fw 190 A-8 from July 1944. For what it is worth I hope this helps you. Horrido! Leo |

dear Leo
shame on my head (I had to waste more time to look into the site) you're right for sure thanks! also can I find the same information after december 1944 somewhere? |
Re: FW190A4 at the end of WW2
From a practical pov, could the A-4 airframe take a new power egg or was it limited to the original? If the latter, it must have caused logistical problems to keep these in operation.

Would it still be A-4 with a new engine?

thank you all
I've found it ---- 20.01.1945 Fuchs FW190A4 (Gizmo, special thanks) It'd be nice to find more (march-april 1945), but I got an evidence that FW190A4 were in use in 1945 |
