It may be helpful if you could tell us in what context you came upon the "A-2" version? That might help us research this possible subtype.

They hv been seen on engines of damaged aircrafts in 1943 Bf109e-7 gen.

One of the defining characteristics of the E-7 was its ability to remain airborne for longer periods thanks to a revised fuel delivery system brought about by the addition of a 300 litre drop tank. It is possible an A-2 engine was somehow modified from the A-1 so as to operate more efficiently with this fuel system change. It might have had something to do with making certain the engine ran smoothly when fuel tank switch-over occured. Hal |
