Amiot 370 In the Phoney War
Hello All,
Having just bought Ailes Francaises2 La Drole de Guerre, I note that there is a colour plate of the Amiot 370 which states that it was militarised at the order of the Air Ministry. Did this militarisation only stretch as far as its paint scheme or was the machine actually operated by the Armee de l'Air? Regards, Clint |
Re: Amiot 370 In the Phoney War
Clint,
The single Amiot 370 appears to have retained its civil registration F-AREU throughout. It was later used by the l'Armee de l'Air for flights between Madagascar and Djibouti. See http://pagesperso-orange.fr/roumseto...gascar_300.htm As you can see on the picture, it has Air France markings (again?) at the end of 1941. Regards, Leendert |

Leendert,
These are no Air France markings. The Am 370 belonged to the "Etat français" (French state) and was crewed by detached members of the Air Staff. Chris |
