Focke-Wulf Data Plate

1 Attachment(s)
I recently picked up this Focke-Wulf data plate that was brought back by a veteran from Knoxville, Tennessee. Can anyone tell me what type of aircraft it was from? Is it the main data plate or simply a data plate for a specific part of an FW aircraft?

8 = Airframe
190 is the type.
So, Fw 190!
Not the main data plate, per-se, or as far as I can tell it isn't.
Don't have the W.Nr listings to hand, but 1103 could be the airframe Werke Nr. Someone here will be able to confirm.
Come in Steve Polyak......!!

The data plate probably belonged to FW 190A-5 W.Nr. 015 1103 which was built by Focke-Wulf late 1942. The plane served with 10./J.G.2 and suffered 15% damage in an accident on 16.08.43.

That's terrific guys! I really appreciate it! Any idea who the J.G. 2 pilot was?

Re: Focke-Wulf Data Plate

Nice plate - congratulations! My opinion: it’s a component plate, and the Werk-Nr (“1103”) is not the (host) airframe’s. I do not have a 190 parts breakdown, but perhaps someone can identify Sach Nr “8-190.125-04”.

Here are several other examples of this style plate common to 190s. http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.p...zddzyy&thumb=4 Leaving no doubt, the top plate identifies both the 190 model and airframe Werk (or Bau) Nr.; the maker code “hmw” is for Norddeutsche Dornier-Werke. The next plate (marked with “FW190” and Werk-Nr “4003014”) is a component/part plate. The seven-digit Werk-Nr. is not correct for a 190 airframe, and “HDT” is the code for Markischer Metallbau rather than a Fw 190 primary manufacturer. The bottom plate is also a component/part plate, apparently built in-house by Focke Wulf. Here the component ID number is “8/190.125/28” with production Werk Nr “1080/B”.

As always, I welcome other opinions and additional information.

If interested, some examples of the variety of 190 plate styles listing aircraft model and main airframe number can be found here: http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/plates.htm

That is correct Steve. Sach Nr is the part number and can be found in the Ersatzteilliste. I will look it this evening for readers.

All the best,

Crumpp

Hi Crumpp,

That would be great to know! If possible, please also identify the Sach Nr on the part plate I showed (8/190.125/28).

Best regards,
Steve

Thanks Stephen and Crumpp! Looking forward to seeing if the part can be identified!

Re: Focke-Wulf Data Plate

If I foud correct the "125-04" refers to "Klappe vor Windschutz" (upper fuselage gun cover for A-5 and A-6) and "125-28" is a "Seitenklappe R" (right fuselage cover with engine louvers for A-5...A-9).
