You beat me to it. Looks like 'Yellow 15' of 12./JG5. Another good photo of the emblem that was really unknown until last year when 'Yellow 16' was recovered. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=150311579494 Beautiful photo. But who is the pilot - hopefully of 12./JG5. regards Mark |

Hi,
Compare the below photos and sellers: Todays M-RT Seller: http://myworld.ebay.de/macflly41/ Link http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380084477596 Yesterdays M-RT (Hmmmm...I see Ed has included it here today!) Seller: http://myworld.ebay.de/christal109/ Link: http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Flugzeug-Bristol-Blenheim-Flugzeug-1940_W0QQitemZ270307372586QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMilit aria?hash=item270307372586&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_t rkparms=72%3A1229%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C24 0%3A1318 I have a couple of times noted that photos, which in my opinion most likely come from the same collection, simultaneously appear at auctions from two different sellers. The two photos I use as an example appeared I saw within 24 hours in between. I've noted this phenomena at least five times the last few months. Are the sellers often offering the photos under different aliases? Puzzled! Goran |

The emblem reminds me of Aufkl.Kette Lappland, quite a lot but probably not identical. The mountains in the background look very Norwegian in appearance to me. Armee Oberkommando(AOK) Lappland, or rather the "Kurier Kette Lappland", is mentioned to have had a JU 52 1R+GH and one 1R+ZH but I don't know what their emblem looked like.(Source Barry C. Rosch, Luftwaffe Codes, markings and Units 1939-1945, p.63, 128 and 284. Not sure which unit........who knows? Cheers Goran |
Re: Photos 11-24
Many sellers use different member names in Ebay. In this case I'm not 100 % certain, but it sure looks like it :
The first seller added this description : Quote:

Thanks Rudi!
Yes, looks like it! Cheers Goran |
Re: Photos 11-24
One of the sellers also have this photo:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Orig-Foto-2-Motor...1%7C240%3A1318 It is one of the few operational Yak-2s photographed in an awkward position. It differs from the Yak-4 in having the oil coolers still at the chin of the nacelles. According to "Barbarossa Victims" by T.J. Kopanski; In June 1941 only 12 served in the Western Special Military District and about 80 in the Kiew Special Military District. Goran |

Re: Photos 11-24
Yes, I could hardly believe my eyes when Andreas phoned me and told me about this photo of Yellow 15!
It is odd how something can be unknown for so long, like this emblem, and then suddenly we have solid evidence of tis exitstence on an actual aircraft and an artefact from the war and then also a photo to verify its existence and use! We are trying to get this photo, of course, let's hope our anti-Sudek13 filters work! Note how the aircraft seem quite weathered and repainted, apaprently 12. Staffel's Focke-Wulfs had seen some considerable use at this time (late 1943/early 1944). The blakc exhaust area is also very interested. Also note how the position of the emblem is almost an exact match to Yellow 16, here illlustrated by a profile: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ow16_12JG5.jpg Best regards, Kjetil |
Re: Photos 11-24
Kjetil
It also has the old A-3 engine cooling louvers though it has been reported that often these were replaced (as you say 1943-44) with the A-4 adjustable louvers. So it seems it was not often the case. regards Mark |
Re: Photos 11-24
Hello Kjetil,
I can't quite make out what the emblem shows. Can you describe it? Thanks, Ed |
