Re: Photos 12-1 - Fw 190 D-9
Folks,
What do you think of next picture? http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=380086517296 See undercarriage. It looks like a ghost picture put on a well known picture. As I'm at work now, I cannot see my docs, but I think you can find a "similar" picture in Axel Urbanke's Greanhearts first in Combat with the Dora 9... II.JG 26 seems to be correct but which plane number. Anyhow I'll check later this day... Best regards, Philippe |
Re: Photos 12-1
sure strange, Dora is missing half of its left landing gear leg:)

Re: Photos 12-1
Philippe, Peter,
No half leg missing on this plane, just a slight enbankment on the side of the taxiway which can be seen in Urbanke 1998, p. 359. This pic is part of a well known serie showing machines of 7./JG 26 taxxying in February 1945 at their base in Nordhorn - Klausheide. This precise picture is published in Urbanke 1998, p. 300. It shows Fw 190 D-9 "Brown 9" Wnr. unknown in the same location and date as mentionned above. Onlooking is Ofw Hansen, from the "Technischen Personal ". This machine is probably the one which was crash landed west of Nordhorn by Lt. Siegfried Sy on 4 April 1945. Urbanke 1998: Urbanke, A. (1998), Mit Fw 190 D-9 im Einsatz, Die Geschichte der III/JG 54 1944/45 und der Weg ihrer Männer bis zum Kriegsende, VDM, Germany. Cheers Marc |
Re: Photos 12-1
Mark,
Sorry for my late response, but yesterday it w&as too late to start the computer again...You are perfectly right. You mislead me as you were looking in the German version (p.300) of the book and I was looking in the English version. IIRC the picture you mention is showed on p 212. Thanks for the input! |
Re: Photos 12-1
Cher Philippe,
C'est bien volontiers! Cheers Marc |
