A?? RE: Robert Pautner of III/JG26
Guys:
The film of Robert Pautner's ME109 getting shot up by A P47 is among the most frequently shown pieces of guncamera footage that I know; now, does anybody know what happened to Pautner after being shot down? AFAIK, according to Caldwell's JG26 War Diary, Pautner survived 'wounded' but there was no further entries with JG26.... TiA nickm |

Robert Pautner of III/JG26
Pautner disappears from my JG 26 files after his injury, and I don't now if he returned to combat. The Luftwaffe personnel files have opened up a lot since I fought many losing battles with the WASt in the 1980s & 90s. Someone may have newly-released data to share on this board -- I'd be interested in anything that turns up.
(Incidentally, the original identification of Pautner's a/c in the gun camera film was my own, using my usual criteria: matching date, location, and circumstances, and no contrary data. As we know, there are no guarantees in Luftwaffe research.) |
