A?? RE: Robert Pautner of III/JG26

Guys:

The film of Robert Pautner's ME109 getting shot up by A P47 is among the most frequently shown pieces of guncamera footage that I know; now, does anybody know what happened to Pautner after being shot down? AFAIK, according to Caldwell's JG26 War Diary, Pautner survived 'wounded' but there was no further entries with JG26....

Rob, I dunno; Personally I didn't know it until I saw a still from the JG26 Photo album & recognized it as the film 'cut' in question: a sort of 5 O'clock high view of a 'mottled pattern' ME109 with underwing gunpods visible & it was streaming smoke/coolant & 'sparkling' from .50 cal strikes...if it's on YouTube it's probably on one of those guncamera compilations.

Robert Pautner of III/JG26

Pautner disappears from my JG 26 files after his injury, and I don't now if he returned to combat. The Luftwaffe personnel files have opened up a lot since I fought many losing battles with the WASt in the 1980s & 90s. Someone may have newly-released data to share on this board -- I'd be interested in anything that turns up.

(Incidentally, the original identification of Pautner's a/c in the gun camera film was my own, using my usual criteria: matching date, location, and circumstances, and no contrary data. As we know, there are no guarantees in Luftwaffe research.)

Why, thanks Mr. Don!
