loss of a He 111 (6N+DJ) 03.09 42 over Greece

loss of a He 111 (6N+DJ) K.G. 100, 03.09 42 over Greece

That code DJ is confusing me, that can`t be right, as at that time only Gruppe II / KG 100 was in Greece. (codes N, P, R, S) .

Any infos about that plane on this date?

This issue sounded somewhat familiar, so I consulted our "Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe" and on page 264 is a photo of He 111 (6N+AJ). In the appendix about unit codes, we state that the Staffel letter J was used by 11./KG 100 for a while before converting to V.

As for the details about the specific aircraft you mention, we have nothing.

Thx gentlemen.

In the Harry Rosch book, page 85 are 9 planes He 111 H-6 referred with codes 6N+AJ-6N+LJ.
I don`t have any proofs that Staffel 11 has ever been in Greece, am I wrong?

I did e search for the crew members at the, Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge but i can't find them, so.. I can't help you for the moment if, staffel II./KG100 where in Greece.
Maybe there are some records on the NVM but I don't have them.

eddit:

I found something.

Genst.Gen.Qn.6.Abt. Nr. 6250/42 g.kdos

berichtungen fliegertruppe;
6-9-1942 II./KG100 3-9-42 Besatzung Uffz Marquard, Herbert durch Ital. marine geretted.

Herbert Marquard was the flugzeugfhurer on the He111 H6 7635 (6N+DJ)

I think there has to be more records on this.

Balke's book on KG 100 mentions the loss on 3 Sep 42 but no crew casualties. It does mention the loss of a SdKdo Koch ac at Athens the day before with the deaths of all of the crew. As to the code 'J', it was used on 4, 5 & 6 Staffel ac in the Med only

Jes Chris,

there was a "Sonder kdo. Koch" since summer 1942, based in Kalamaki, with He 111H and some Ju 88A, under X. Fliegerkorps. Don`know more about unit.
