2/123 Losses

In a rush (as always) so I couldn't find it on fiche first time round, does anyone have a record of the loss of a Lt Zenke (or similar) with 2/123 on or about 21 Dec 41. Also does anyone have the reasons for the loss of the Birkenmaier crew on 21 Jul 42?

Chris,

Report dated 7-1-42 has Ff Ltn Renner +, B Fw Petthast +, Bf Uffz Karl Bernhard Maltke w. Aircraft Ju88 4U+HK 1529 to Jagerbeschuss on 30-12-41, could not see anything else in the period,

Re: 2/123 Losses

If Ltn Renner is similar enought to Zenke, looks like the only one in december to fit
Wn seems to be 1529, Potthast nd Moltke, corrected to uffz v. Moltke sound more german, where hv you found Brian the first name of Moltke ,,??

Remi,

On my copy it has been hand written next to his surname, it is very faint, I have checked and the wn is 1529 as you say,

Re: 2/123 Losses

I have an aircraft missed at 29.04.42 with the same code,

FF. Fw. Kurt Zahn (4U+HK) mit BO. Ofw. Kurt Rohrbach , BF. Uffz. Springer, BS. Ogfr. Peter Wohlrad (K.G), 29.04.42 alle vermisst in Alexandrien

did the Germans give the same code after loosing a plane to another one?
I found similar examples in other cases as well

Re: 2/123 Losses

Thanks Gentlemen but no answers here. I am going from the logbook of Oblt Franz Hesslinger whose Beobachter was Lt Zenke and alongside the 21 Dec 41 entry states that Zenke failed to return from a mission with another crew (Alexandria). Could it have been earlier in Dec 1941?

Byron: the only thing that would not change is the Werk Nummer; the Kennzeichen (4U+HK in this case) could be assigned to another aircraft following a loss

Re: 2/123 Losses

That is him but it puzzles me why Hesslinger wrote of his loss 2 months before. Thanks one & all
