Forced landing Fieseler Fi.156 Wnr 1203

Dear all,

On 5th October 1943 a Storch made a forced landing at Bergen airfield in The Netherlands as a result of engine problems. This concerned Wnr 1203 which belonged to the 6./FlGr zbV 7. Damaged for 10%.

Probably someone has a bit more info on file such as Stammkenzeichen or other details?

Thanks in advance,
Hans Nauta

To throw this into the pot, on the open source LEMB Sktz Database we have this entry:

GN+HY - Fieseler Fi156C-3 - WNr.1203 - coded Q9+HY of 6./Fl.G.zbV 7 (Waffen SS)

I do note however that Peter van Gogh doesn't have a source against either WNr block (GN+?? or NS+??) so I'll ask him from where he obtained this data especially as neither matches Remi's data...

According to the notes of Larry deZeng, this unit was extremely unusual. While maintained by Luftwaffe personnel, it really was operated by the Ordnungspolizei primarily to aid in hunting down partisans and consisted of at least 10 Staffeln using Fi 156s as well as Ju 87s, Si 204s, Fw 58s.

The unit I.D. code was (9Q+) but details about the rest of the coding are unknown.

Larry has a quantity of details about the activities of this unit and I expect that someday these will appear in a future book.

Cheers for that Doug, I think we were posting at the same time :) In the meantime, I've popped a message off to Peter van Gogh and asked him to quantify our database entries...

The unit was involved in several brute attacks on villages in Eastern Poland (I have heard accounts over TV), and I presume it cooperated with such units like Brigade Dirlewanger.
Doug, by the book you mean a book about the unit?

Hi Guys

By co-incidence I checked the WNr 1203 and it is listed as having ended its days in Norway with Fl. Verb. Geschw. 2 at Fornebu, Oslo in 1945 where it was reported with 75% damage and still coded 9Q+HY on 27.8.1945. It was later broken up at the airport.

See www.luftwaffe.no/Storch.htm

Doug
Barry Rosch lists in his book only seven Staffeln for this unit. Seems he is at least three short according to your sources....

Cheers

Guys,

See the following link for info on Fliegergeschwader z.b.V. 7.

This is an article written by Larry deZeng.

Any additional information on this unit would be appreciated.
