6.6.1944: Allied bombing of Targul Frumos

On 6th of June at ca. 19:00 (german time), a big bomb run was executed on german positions near Targul Frumos in Romania. Reportedly, this were four-engined planes, but the "four-engined" was apparently doubted by the german High command who filed the report.

Which Air Force was this?

It could have been
- the VVS-ADD (maybe with Pe-8) or
- the 15th US Air Force during a Shuttle-run Italy-Poltava or
- if it is a errooneous report, a normal VVS-bombrun with two-engined A/C "only"...

Thank you!

So it must have been the Soviets... hard to imagine, but maybe they used Pe-8
