Identity of KG27 Heinkel

1 Attachment(s)
Could anyone help me to identify the Heinkel from possibly 3 Staffel KG27 and the writing on the fuselage. The picture was taken on or prior to 3 March 1941.
Many thanks

Re: Identity of KG27 Heinkel

Hello Tony

According to Waiss in Boelcke-Archiv '5 Schreckensteiner III' was 1G+HL W.Nr.3664 of 3./KG 27 but I have no info on II. There was also a 5 Schreckensteiner I and IV. Schreckensteiner was a comic character.

Re: Identity of KG27 Heinkel

Hello Chris,
Many thanks for that, maybe someone can come up with the identity some time. Your mention of 1G+HL W.Nr. 3664 prompts me to say that this Heinkel flown by Lt. Freddie Heinzl force landed in Wexford on 3 March 1941 following damage in shipping attacks. The Bordfunker was Ofw Rudi Hengst who said that the Heinkel had the inscription "Die vier Heinzelmannchen" which seems to add to the confusion.
Thanks again Chris
Regards
Tony K
