I./JG 11 Loss on 23 Sept. 1943 - Herbert Kreuchen
Can any reader assist in clarifying an entry in the Luftwaffe Quartermeister General 6.Abt. daily materiel loss returns?
LwGQM 7700/43, entry no. 32, states that on 23 Sept. 1943, Uffz. Herbert Kreuchen crashed fatally south of Husum, Germany (cause not given; a Feindflug). The entry states the unit was I./JG 11 and gives the aircraft as Focke Wulf Fw 190A-6 WNr. 47004 [sic]. Jochen Prien and Peter Rodeike, JG 1 u. 11, does not include the above entry at or around 23 Sept. 1943, or anything resembling it. Can anyone correct the above information, especially the aircraft Werknummer, or point to a source that can? RA |

Hello Rabe,
pilot belonged to 5./JG 301. Aufsitzer I./JG 11. Werkenummer is a ???, possibly 470044? See also Reschke's book. Cheers, John. |

No error for me. A pilot of JG 301 crashed aboard an aircraft of JG 11, as it was usual to fly at the time for piots of JG 300+

Thank you, John and Laurent, for the comments about Herbert Kreuchen and his airplane! Ah yes, that fighter exchange program. . . .
