Re: LAFONT: Aviateurs de la liberté
Antoine Winther
Born on 27 August 1921 at Paris (XVe) Student pilot at the "Ecole de Pilotage n° 27" (Pilot School n°27), Antoine Winther didn't accept French defeat and with several other students of this school managed to board the Arandora Star, sent by the British government to evacuate Polish soldiers from France in June 1940. He arrived in Liverpool on 29 June, joined the FAFL and restarted training in the RAF schools. He was killed in a night take-off accident while being a member of 59 OTU at Crosby-on-Eden. The aircraft type or serial are not listed by the book. |
Re: LAFONT: Aviateurs de la liberté
Laurent,
Thank you very much for this piece of information. I have the date as 12.12.41 so it must be possible to combine this with a 59 OTU crash. Regards Mikkel |
