US Service records
Hi
Is there anyway of trying to get a service record? I know the UK ones give you a full name, rank, date of birth, location and last correspondence? I really need to try and find the family of this guy. S/Sgt Samuel L Kirschenbaum. Service number 32342047 Thought to be from NY. Thought to have died in 1990's in NY or FL. Unfortunately quite a common name in NY! On ancestry.com there is a couple of divorces and a death in Fl but have no further information. Full name and date of birth would be a great help! regards MS |

Mark-
Go to www.nara.gov In Most Requested Box - Click on Military Service Records Read Carefully - print out Form SF180. This is only Request form the Records Center Accepts. Since you are not a Relative , you will have to include a Statement as to why you are requesting records and that you are doing so under the Freedom of Information Act. I checked on this Site for his Enlistment Record by Name and Number and it is not Listed. Stll Checking for Info. Could he have Enlisted through RCAF? He is not Listed in Veteran Cemeteries. www.gravefinder.com Lists 19 Graves with His Name Mike |
Re: US Service records
Mark,
Although always extreme care should be executed, you can (also) find if someone is deceased or not on the Social Security Death Index. Just google those words and you'll find the website. I found the same result as you have on other forums. Regards, Leendert |
Re: US Service records
Mike, I have completed the Form 180 and will send off on Monday.
Leendert, I will have a look at the site to see if I can find more info. regards Mark |
