Luftwaffe losses: NE England, July-August 1940
The War Diary of 43 AA Brigade suggests three Luftwaffe losses over NE England in July-August 1940 as follows: night of 16/17 July 1940 - a Heinkel crashed into the sea off Redcar; night of 23/24 July 1940 - an enemy aircraft shot down 12 miles off the river Tees; 12/13 August 1940, a plane seen crashing into sea c.5 miles off Cloughton, N of Sarborough. The Diary claims that each sighting was confirmed by at least two sources - but Luftwaffe Loss Records reveal nothing that matches the claims. Anyone got any ideas?

One idea. In AMWR records are listings of supposedly all downed aircraft. Many of them are not indentifed at all in subsequent reports. I occurs to me that at least some might have been British. I say this because much effort was made by Air Intelligance to apprehend and interrogate POW for all possble info.
