Seeking information on the fate of Me109 W/nr 3861.

Hello Trevor,

This bird went down in your area.
On the 02.09.1940 Bf 109E-1 WNr.3861, piloted by Lt. Werner Kluge of the 9./JG2, was shot down after air combat over Kent. The crash location is given as 20km SW London.
Lt. Kluge was captured wounded, and he died the day after.

Lt Werner Kluge was originally buried at Ulcombe, Kent, his remains were repatriated by his family, post war.
