Z3095 of 302 Squadron was shot down on 8 May 1941 with the loss of Flt Lt Z Kinel.

Laguna and Domagala of the same squadron were also shot down in the same action over Kent in the same action.

I have the crash location for Domagala's aeroplane. Without checking my files it was, from memory, Willow Farm on Romney Marsh.

Do you have a crash location for Kinel - or indeed Laguna?

Very interesting Andy

The loss of Z3095 is not listed in my edition of RAF Fighter Command losses Vol 1 by Franks. However the other two you name they are!
Neither is it mentioned by John Foreman in 1941 the turning point Vol 2.
In Air Britains X1000 to Z9999 file the Z3095 is only listed as SOC 20.5.1941

What is your source please?

Am currently working on a comprehensive listing of all RAF FC losses in 1941. The source was, I think, the squadron ORB since I also have the aircraft code letters to be WX-N.

Jan Kinel is buried at Northwood, grave H 291.

Kinel made into the 2nd edition of FCL.Vol 1. Shot down by an Me109 in Z3095 "N". The others are also there with both baling out and being recovered

Andy,
IIRC May 1941 is missing in 302 Sqn ORB. They changed bases at the time and it seems that the whole month's paperwork was lost in transit. I think your source may have been Robert Gretzyngier's research.
F/O Kinel's full name was Zygmunt Jan Kinel.
Otherwise you are perfectly correct.

Guys

Amazing what turns up if you ask people to look underneath their rocks.;)

Thanks ever so much!! Very nice of all of you!!!!

Is it just me that feels that if you have bought a first edition of a book, the publisher should have at least some kind of update service? Not everyone is a millionaire....

Cheers
Stig
