Grafton
1 Attachment(s)
During my visit in one of the veterans houses (a few years ago) I have found this picture. Person who owns it didn't remember the names of the pilots on this photo but - as far as I remember - he said that he met him (or them) at the hospital. Veteran I was visiting belongs to Guinea Pig Club so it might be a hint.
I'm pretty sure that I saw "Grafton" somewhere else... Does anyone know where? |
Re: Grafton
Is there a clue in the Guinea Pig Club link? Graft-on?

Re: Grafton
Hi Peter
The a/c is a Mustang I and it seems to be the case that these a/c were not fitted with rear view mirrors until second half of 1943 (and onwards). By this time the operational units still flying Mustang I were mainly those in 39Wing ie 168, 414 (RCAF) and 430 (RCAF). The pilot on the left seems to have a shoulder flash which might be "Canada" but the pilot of the right does not which suggests he is RAF. There are several examples of a/c from 414Sqn with inscriptions applied with a very similar font/stencil to that used for "Grafton". I believe there is a Grafton Hotel in London and I guess there could well have been a "Grafton Club". Steve |
