Re: Crew of 7./KG30 crash in Belgium

Hello Alain,

I found Zschornack/Kollarczyk/Konert on the volksbund website. But here they are listed as lost on the 17th? No trace to be found of Ernst though. Not on the 17th nor on the 20th. Perhaps wrong spelling of the name?
Any idea where in Belgium their Ju88 crashed?
Best wishes,

Dirk

Gentlemen ,
This aircraft was lost near Lanklaar ( Belgium ) on , indeed the 17th , i was wrong about the date. The crew was initialy buried at the German cemetery in the village of Brustem near St-Truiden and reburied in 1948 at Lommel Belgium on plot 21:
Fw Zschornack Heinz (KIA) 09/06/1920 - 21-73
Gefr Wilhelm Ernst (KIA) 30/01/1923 - 21-579
Uffz Kollarczyk Helmut (KIA) 22/09/1920 - 21-70
Gefr Konert Johannes (KIA) 18/10/1923 - 21-573

Does anybody knows if these Ju-88 was equiped with BMW radial engines? Did KG30 had Ju-88 with BMW engines in 1943? Or from what date on the Ju-88 were equiped with BMW engines? Thanks.

Yes, Ju 88 A-4, Werk.-Nr. 301322 flown by Fl.ÜG 1. The crew was from 7./KG 30. Reported location was Lanklaar, 25 km nördlich Maastricht.

Re: Crew of 7./KG30 crash in Belgium

Thank you Karsten and Matti! Location is correct. Lanklaar is more or less 25km north of Maastricht. When I'm correct Fl.ÜG 1 means they were flying a factory fresh airplane to 7./KG 30? So there are a few errors on this site: http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/219515 All 4 crew perished in the crash and were burried at Brustem, St.-Truiden (St.-Trond).
