JG 53 losses for 1943
 

Some time ago, a kind fellow sent me the losses of JG 77 for 1943, and I got dizzy seeing the huge losses they suffered, unbelievabe...
Is here anyone so kind to provide me the losses of their mates within JG 53 during 1943? Both units flew in mediteranean theatre ....
Anyhow, who's losses were huger?

Dear Bogdan,

I don't know the data you based your comment on and if they include only losses in air combat or also other causes.
According to my sources, I estimate about 200 planes shot down in air combat for JG77 and few less for JG53.

If you are interested in this subject, the books written by Jochen Prien are excellent sources of information.

Jasta 11-I suggest yopu get Prien's works on JG 53 and you will get all of them (too many to list here!)
