Kampfgeschwader 1 book
Hey, guys!
Has anyone ever heard of this book before? http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=180344087454 It’s a new one on me. I can’t find anything about it. Who carries it? |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
Doug,
Never seen this before. Does anyone know when this was published? Regards, |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
It's written by former bomber pilot of KG 1, Gerhard Baeker, who passed away about 3 or 4 years ago now.
Towards the end of the war many bomber pilots received conversion training to become fighter pilots. Baeker went on to fly with JG 3. All the best, David |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
Hello!
I would be escpecially interested to know if the book has anything about KG 1 for the period Summer 1941 to Spring 1942 (based among others at Dno, Pleskau and Siverskaja). Second interesting KG 1 topic for me is IV Gruppe based in Lithuania 1942-1944 (short spell at Riga, Latvia too in August 1942 - perhaps for operations?). Thanks in advance, Kari |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
I traded information with Mr. Baeker a number of years ago - I think he used to be a member of Ruy's original board. He was able to provide updates to a few machines from Gen.Qu. losses. He said he was looking to do some type of chronicle of his old unit.

Here is what we have on this guy:
BAEKER, Gerhard. 00.42 Hptm., appt Staka 12./KG 1 (to 00.43). 05.07.43 Techn.Offz. in III./KG 1. 25.08.44 Hptm., appt Kdr. I./JG 7 (to 25.11.44). 25.11.44 Hptm., appt Kdr. II./JG 3 (to 08.05.45). This appears to be consistent with other comments in this thread. LdZ DGS |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
Hello,
I guess for me the question is does this contain any information on KG1 during the 1939-40 period. Does anyone know? Regards, |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
Hi,
I haven't got the book to confirm accuracy but from some notes I have from a German source, made at the end of last year, I have it as privately published and mainly covering early to mid-1941 onwards. Regards, David |
Re: Kampfgeschwader 1 book
Heya,
just a short addition; after his death, the book was finalized by his son-in-law, Mr. Klaus Bohner. Purchase price is Euro 19,50 + shipping costs. Greetings, ghost |
