Hello.

Horst Lehrmann was a close Friend of Heinz Bretnütz. For the little story, It is Horst Lehrmann who presented Peterle the future wife of Heinz Bretnütz
With him and Walter Oesau, he was at Doberitz between 1.11.36 and 1.3.37 to I/JG132.
He came in Spain with Bretnütz to 2./J88. the last 6 months of 1938

Thank you.

Re: hptm horst Lehrmann

Hi,

Excellently!

In the September Campaign he only served as CO 2./ZG 1 until Sept 6,
1939. Maj. Hammes, CO 1./ZG 1, lost his life on the same day. These
dates coincide somewhat strangely. Why was Lehrmann put off this duty?
Had he been shot down or injured? Had he been taken prisoner or placed
in the hospital? I./ZG 1 continued to operate in Poland, so who
replaced him? Does anyone know anything with this regard?

Re: hptm horst Lehrmann

Greetings: I believe Hptm. Horst Lehrmann remained in command of 2/ZG1 up to at least early June,1940 shortly before I/ZG1 was redesignated I/NJG1. A post last year by Larry Hickey has him making a Victory claim on 1.6.40 with 2/ZG1. In addition, Chris Goss Book "Luftwaffe fighters in Battle of Britian" on pg.17 in a quote from Oblt. Juergen Moeller, 2/ZG1 with regard to 1.6.40, states in part " my Staffelkapitan Oblt. Horst Lehrmann, was not flying this day" which would appear to confirm he was still Staffelkapitan on this date, although it doesn't jive exactly with the stated victory claim, which was perhaps made on another mission that day. Hope this is of some help. Dean.
