Do 217M-1 Werk Number 40727 info needed..
 

Could anyone tell me more about this plane. It supposed to have crashed in my village Waalre in the Netherlands.

This aircraft was part of a formation of Do217's of KG2 on a exercise flight on 4th.Dec.1943 when they were attacked by RAF Typhoons of 198 and 609 Sqds. The German formation lost 6 aircraft ( 11 crewmen killed and 9 injured ) including the U5+EL 40727 which crashed by Waalre - Ff Ltn Josef Kniendl, B Uffz. Gunter Anger, Bf. Uffz. Helmut Opp, Bs Fw. Wilhelm Ulsamer all killed. Total RAF claims were for 11 aircraft, four to 198 sqd and seven by 609 Sqd.
