Hi Robert

This was the night that Battle L5568 crewed by Flg Off B.E. Moss, Sgts B.C. Long and Sgt T.J. Radley, fell victim to a Blenheim IF night fighter from 29 Squadron flown by Flg Off Richard Rhodes as it crossed the coast near Skegness on the outward flight. The crew were tragically killed.

Is this what you are looking for?

Trust you are well
Cheers
Brian

Highly interesting (as usual), it is finally very wellcome to have someone speaking up regarding these friendly fire "incidents". Nobody today (I hope) thinks this was done by malice by the unfortunate crew, and I can only imagine what they must have felt when given the truth...
Just out of interest (and sympathy I might add) is it known what they claimed? To take the lid off these friendly fire accidents actually add one more dimension to the air war we all are interested in. I have noticed before your interest in the subject and can we hope of some kind of publication in the future Brian?

Robert

Foreman in his books does not, of course, mention anything about the unfortunate British claim in question, but neither does he mention any other relevant night claim during the stated night, so what exactly are you after? Could there be any other claim made during the night by something else than Fighter Command?

B Rgds

Hi Stig,

since both German He 111 were damaged and finally abandoned by the crews over France here could be perhaps probably claims, which were later rejected?

Hi Robert

Do we know the Heinkels were attacked by night fighters - could the damage have been inflicted by AA fire?

Hi Stig

Hopefully Volume I will appear before the end of the year. However, the financial crisis has already put two of my releases for this year on hold!

Cheers
Brian
