Terminology question

Hello,

one of the more unpleasant characteristics of the Me 109 was that its ailerons became heavy up to being almost unmovable at high speeds. In a survey of his experience with that type the famous test pilot Heinrich Beauvais relates that there had been many unsuccessful attempts to cure this weakness but that towards the end of the war finally a solution was found, namely "Keulenquerruder" (literally: club ailerons), which however did no more enter production. In the past I asked several people what "Keulenquerruder" might mean but no one knew. Is there anybody in this community who can explain it?

Regards,
klemchen
