Ju 88 A-4/A, B, C

Looking through the Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen listing I was struck by a number of Ju 88 A-4/A/B/C shown on strength in early 1942 for Küstenfliegergruppen and a few Kampfgruppen. I can find nothing on line describing what the differences are from ordinary A-4s. And a search here yielded nothing as well.

Can anybody explain to me what the suffix letters describe?

Equipment/load- condition, number of fuel tanks etc. Explained in flight manuals.
