A Transportgeschwader loss jan.17. 1943

Good evening!
Having tried the german board, unfortunately with no luck, I try here with the hope for some better succes.

The matter concerns a Gefr. Alfons Alois Krapp, who was a member of a TG.
He died an airmans death on Jan. 17. 1943 on the eastern front. He was burried there.
His name is in "Gräbersuche" but I not been able to find him in GQM.
Does anyone know more?
Thank you

Christian

A minor and insignificant point, but the card must have been printed months later because the Transportgeschwader did not come into existence until 1 May 1943. Before that they were called KG z.b.V. and KGr. z.b.V. Given his place of burial, he could have belonged to any one of a number of Kampfgruppen z.b.V. employed on the Stalingrad airlift. Hopefully, someone can find his name in the Gen.Qu.(6.Abt.) Verlustmeldungen bei den fliegende Verbände reports.

A vague chance but perhaps someone could check, on the Luft QM's report dated 21-1-43 page 17 there is a Ju 52 5385 of II/KGzbv1 destroyed on 17-1-43. Two crew names are typed in and three added by pen, two of these appear in the correction list in the report dated 8-2-43, however the last name which in not on a correction list may be 'K---P' or 'K--P'. The location is given as Swerowa but I could not find it to see if it is near Krapp's gravesite.

I believe that airfield is:

Swerewo (e. Sverevo) - S Russia (85 km SE Voroshilovgrad); Ffp.; ZNr. 5185; Mq. A49097.

II./KG z.b.V. 1
16 Jan 43: withdrew from Salsk to Sverevo/85 km SE of Voroshilovgrad. By the end of January the Gruppe had lost 7 Ju 52s supporting the Stalingrad airlift, (incl. 1Z+KR and 1Z+CC)

Hi,

I have just bought a portrait photo of Gefr. Krapp and wondered if you had a sterbebild photo of him to confirm the validity of the photo.

If you check the loss of the Ju 52 WNr. 5385, also check WNr. 3144 which was also reported lost on the same day. Some of the crew names are duplicated, but none matches the name you are seeking.
