Do 17 of 3./KG 76 down in France June 1940
Hi everyone,
attached is a picture of a Do 17 of 3./KG 76 which crash-landed in France June 1940. It looks like the aircraft code is F1+CL or GL. Does anyone knows the correct code? Does anyone knows near which village the aircraft came down? I've also attached a enlargement of the picture showing the church in the background. Kind regards & thanks in advance, Rudi. |

Robert,
thanks very much for your help. You're absolutely right. The church in the background of the picture is located at Flesquières, which is SW of Cambrai. Thanks again for your help. Kind regards, Rudi |

Rudi...
I have a slightly clearer copy of this pic which seems to indicate the code as being F1+CL. Regards... Paul |

Paul,
Before we confirm this loss as F1+CL in the Revised EOE Data Base, would it be possible to see a copy (scan) of your image, which you indicate is a little clearer for showing the a/c code? Does anyone have a clear photo showing the other side of the fuselage? Also, I'd be interested in any other photos of this wreck, particularly showing the smashed front fuselage to see if it might have carried any Staffel insignia. Thanks for your help, |

Re: Do 17 of 3./KG 76 down in France June 1940
Hi, Larry...
I've attached the pic as requested. I have to admit, I've run it through Photoshop to see if I can get any more clarity, and now sometimes I see a 'C', other times a 'G'... ! I can't be positive now, but certainly, there seems to be more of the character visible, especially on the lower edge. I did genuinely see it more as a 'C' previously. Sorry it's not the conclusive proof needed. Regards... Paul |

Thanks everyone for your input. It's very much appreciated.
> Paul, I think it's F1+GL. I've "fooled around a bit" with your picture, which is indeed much better then the one I've posted before, and I came up with the attached result. It looks like a G to me, not a C. Once again thanks everyone four your inputs. Kind regards, Rudi. |
