Dave

Boeing B-17G-60-BO Fortress
42-102841
Construction Number: 8343
483rd Bomb Group
840st Bomb Sqn

According to Freeman

Delivered Cheyenne 9/4/44; Dyersburg 25/4/44;Hunter 304/44; assigned 840BS/483BG Sterparone 8/5/44; Missing in Action 23/10/44 with Pilot Dallman; Flak, Crashed Doeltech, Czech; 10 POW. MACR 9319.

I assumes that would be Howard Dallman..

This aircraft is alleged to actually be the one in a Glacier in Austria. And slated for recovery

Joe Baugher has her

102841 (483rd BG, 840th BS) lost Oct 23, 1944, Taschachferner, Pitztal, Austria. MACR 9319

Thanks Paul. Aircraft remains are to be recovered ( some have been previously )

Doubt there is a lot left since it wasn't a 'controlled landing'.

I know this is a very late response, sorry. Yes this is Howard Dallmans plane (I am his grandson).
I know some of his plane has been recovered, unfortunately I do not know how many missons the plane flew.
He met with an Austrian who recovered some parts of the plane from the glacier. He passed on in 2000.
