Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
I thought the same Remi,
it`s definitely a german plane, the document comes from a german war diary; can`t locate the unit with that code, i hoped somebody else can |
Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
Hi all
This was the Ju 88 A-5 / 5277 from 6./LG 1, which crashed because engine trouble on 26. July 1941 near Kerkyra/Korfu into the water. The crew was: Lt Horst Drognitz + / Uffz Hans Broemel wounded / Uffz Herbert Puchert + / Uffz Erich Wrusch +. My source is LG 1/1, page 457. best wishes JoMe |
Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
Somehow the document speaks of a "dreimot. Flugz.", or three-engined airplane....

Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
Italian planes mostly had three-engine (Cant 1007, Savoias, etc.) and the code number - maybe italian code ?? - any specialist for italian airplanes there ??

Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
The message is: "Just received message as follows from the Italian Navy as follows: "Navy Korfu announces, that on 26.07.1941, 10.30, a three-mot a/c BCIZ 329 turned over during emergency ditching attempt, 2 dead, 2 seriously injured."
I understand this message as coming from the Regia Marina with no LW a/c involved. Regards Roland |
Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
Hi
Was the 329 aircraft serial? What kind of aircraft?? Regards, Andreas B |
Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
BCIZ 329 is not the acronym of any type of Italian aircraft: it’s possible it was a civilian aircraft (code I-BCIZ flight 329) but it’s only a supposition.
It can`t be a plane of LG 1, although the date matches. |
Re: Fatal accident in Corfu
