Hi,
"Hell Hawks!" by Robert F Dorr & Thomas D Jones gives a vivid description of this action on pp31-33 describing the mission as an armed recce between Chartes and Dreux 09.00 hrs with 16 P.4's at 11,000 ft bouncing a similar number of 109's at 8,000 ft claming 8 but losing 1 pilot. Frank Olynyk in his excellent ETO claims opus times the combat at 11.00 hrs and in the vicinity of Evreaux Cheers Bruce Lander |

Hello John and Bruce,
Thanks for the input. @ Bruce: Can you please provide me with scans of the pages? I am very interested. Various sources state: 41 of 43 P-47s fly a flight-bomber mission against Evreux/Fauville landing ground. Was this also 365 FG or another unit..? Best regards, Rob |

Rob,
The 353rd FG had a bombing mission on that field on the 25th. It was mission 212 from 1657 to 1932 zulu and involved 41 aircraft. Hope this helps. Mike |

Rob,
About the only thing I can add is that they claimed 3 aircraft destroyed on the ground. Unfortunately, that is all I have at this time. If you know of anyone that has Jonah's Feet are Dry, a history of the 353rd, (anybody out there), it may have more detail. Mike |
