Container found on Austrian Mountain in 1946

Hello,

My friend sent me some pictures that show maps ( showing a small area) dated 1943.
They wer from a container found on an Austrian mountainside in 1946.
Also within it was English Jam (Marmalade I think).
Would this container have been dropped to assist downed airmen or is it some kind of survival pack that they themselves would take with them when they jumped ?
Or could it be a pack for some spy ?

Photos below.
Note the second one has a date of Jan 1944 on it.

What do these maps tell us about the time and the purpose of the dropped container?

Thanks for any replies
Alex

The maps are standard army issue.

The clue to the container is the container.
Have you got pictures of it?

Tony
