August-Wilhelm Schurmann - Rabatzstaffeln info

Hello Everyone,

On the late magazine Batailles Aeriennes dedicated to the History of JG 52, i came upon some pictures of unusual blotched camouflaged 109´s aledgely from August-Wilhelm Schurmann from the RabatzStaffeln.

Now, what i would like to know is where can i dig into some more info regarding this camo and pilot since, this is the first time i´ve seen such camo, and a quick search online and on some of my books ended with no results.

There is also the mention he was KIA on 6/10/1941.

Any help apreciated.

Here is what we have on this guy. His last name was evidently Schumann and not Shurmann.

SCHUMANN, August-Wilhelm.
(no date) with J/88 of the Condor Legion in Spain.
01.07.39 Oblt., trf from I. of J/88 Legion Condor to I./JG 52.
15.07.39 appt Staka 11./JG 72.
01.09.39 appt Staka 5./JG 52 (to 06.09.41 KIA).
06.09.41 KIA – Bf 109F-2, WNr. 9191, "black 1"struck an obstacle and crashed on return from a sortie in the Lyuban area/S of Leningrad.

Iam not a specialist in fighter camouflage, but I’ll bet that Jochen Prien’s Die Jagdfliegerverbände der Deutschen Luftwaffe 1934 to 1945 Band 6/II has pics of what you want.

Dear Doug,

Thank you so much for the info, indeed i miswritedown the name, that way will be a bit dificult to find somenone data.

I´ll have a check whit my books on the Condor Legion and the initial campaign to see what i got, i don´t have easy acess to Prien´s book, but what caught my attention was that with such a unusual camouflage it´s not depicted in the jagdwaffe series nor anyother title i recall, but better look again, just in case.

Thanks
VL
