Loss of Unteroffizier Siegfried Mayr

Hi,

Bought this sterbebild as airman looked like he was lost over England but not sure.
Looked at The Blitz volume 3 and a Dornier Do 217 was stated as lost on from 8/KG2 on 16th November but doesn't quite match up with Sturzkampflugzeug as stated on sterbebild.
Could anyone provide further information please.
Scan of sterbebild is attached. Many thanks
Rick

Re: Loss of Unteroffizier Siegfried Mayr

He was the B of a Ju188 3E+IK of I/KG6 which ran out of fuel following an attack on Plymouth on 15/16-11-1943. The crew baled out near Pontersen Normandy, four chutes were seen (KG6 188's operated with four man crews according to other losses in the period), however the body of Uffz Mayr was 'gerborgen' which I think indicates he may have come down in the sea,
