Wing Commander John Freeborn on TV
 

Hi guys,

This Friday at 7pm, John Freeborn will be featured on BBC1's "The One Show". He was interviewed about his early days as a Spitfire fighter pilot and the "barking creek" incident. There was also a lovely Spitfire flypast put on as a tribute to John.

Surely worth watching, too, for trouper Peter Cornwell's part in the filming. Sadly, no Christine Bleakley though. Just as well. She would be too much of a distraction for an interesting subject. No offence Peter, but your legs, your accent and your smile just don't have the same impact. Not for me, anyway!

As there is a chance that we will be sharing a bedroom (again) week after next, I'm very relieved to hear it. But don't get too excited - the entire feature will only run to about four minutes I believe.

Both John and Peter were interviewed by Lucy Siegle, so that doesn't hurt either ;)

I have just been informed that the feature with John and Peter has now been moved to next Wednesday.

I can confirm that the piece is scheduled to go out on Wednesday and can add that my own contribution will not now be included. [Pause for deafening howls of protest]. A case of trying to get a quart into a pint pot it seems. Something had to go and I'm just pleased that they rightly decided to concentrate on John Freeborn and the Spitfire.

That's a shame Peter, hopefully they will send us the uncut version on dvd and will include you on that.
