Hi everyone,
Been trying to answer a query on the Stirling Aircraft Society forum but have drawn a blank so far. Limited details ----------- 196 sqn, Charles Alf Myers, lost over Zieder Zee on the 8-9 Nov 44. Would welcome any feedback from the members so I can post your reply. John stirlingaircraftsoc.raf38group.org/ |

Loss register of special duties aircraft on http://harringtonmuseum.org.uk/Carpe...umHomePage.htm
adds that intended DZ was at Venhuizen, which is near Enkhuizen along the west bank of the (former) Zuider Zee. The register of lost aircraft in The Netherlands on nimh.nl doesn't mention EF234, so the Stirling may have disappeared over the North Sea. On the other hand, many aircraft were found when large portions of the Zuider Zee were turned into polders, but the area around Enkhuizen is still water. Regards, Leendert |
