Detling attack 13 August 1940
 
Had hope to see the ORB for this station but its under going conservation work at the moment at Kew.

Looking to find out what damage was done to this Coastal Command Station.

Any help would be gratefully received and acknowledged. The info is for a future book on the part played by Coastal Commands 'Trade Protection' Squadron before and during the Battle of Britain.

Although my file is not to hand, I recall that the Station Commander (who's name I cannot recall without my file!) was killed in the attack but has no known grave and is commemorated at Runnymede. Presumably, he was simply not found after the attack?

Andy is right about the Stn Cdr. I have the complete list of those RAF personnel who were killed or wounded and it was quite high. Seem to remember 53 Sqn Sqn Ldr was also killed-he had baled out over Hampshire a few days before
