unknown Steinbock casualty?
Hello chaps
Recently purchased a Luftwaffe death card for a Feldwebel Siegfried Kruse/Krule (born 1917), who was a Beobachter who was lost on a mission over England on the first night of the Baby Blitz, 21/22nd January 1944. I have looked in After the Battle Then & Now and google etc but no luck. Does anyone have any further info about him (i.e. unit, a/c type, who shot him down, other casualties etc) please? With grateful thanks Austin |
Re: unknown Steinbock casualty?
He died near Lacres, south of Samer, in France which is why he does not appear in Blitz Then & Now. No further details I'm afraid - 1944 not my period.

Re: unknown Steinbock casualty?
Hi Peter
Thanks for that - any idea what that could refer to - aircraft landing/taking off accident, shot down by RAF intruder etc? Thanks Austin |

Re: unknown Steinbock casualty?
Hi John
That's the fella - thanks! Any idea how they met their demise? The date may suggest they were on their return leg from the raid. Thanks Austin |
Re: unknown Steinbock casualty?
Yes, they crashed while returning from the raid. But, no reason is known by the author for the crash.
