What is this tail fin skin from?

Hello forum, I am new here and had registered to get some education on the Air Forces and some information on this item. This cloth is very thick and has been hand painted. There is some light blue or grey over spray. It measures approximatley 13" x 13". Due to the material and size I figure a glider. I have been researching for a picture of any certain WW2 glider that would have this size star on the fin. It might take a picture with a person standing near it to figure what the approximate size and id it. It has writing on the back by the soldier that has the year 1944 and he was with the 80th Division. Someone told me that this site would be the right place for this. Thank you.

Hello!

Could it be from a barrage balloon? Colour and lack of rib tapes do point this direction. Also I couldn't see any marks or signs left by structure (like rib or so) on the inside of the fabric. That would be odd even for a glider.

Just a guess, though.

.... or a decoy Glider ? Otherwise I agree with Kari. Might even be of non-flying item, such as from Truck cover or similar.

cheers

Thanks for the response. The reason I have not pursued anything other than a glider on plane is that the vet wrote on the back "Taken from a plane 80th 1944" Bill
