Operations Record Books of 550,626,101,576 Bomber Sqns

Hello!
Does anybody have access to Operations Record Books of 550, 626, 101, 576 Bomber Squadrons from 1 Bomber Group?
I need some informations dated on June 1944 regarding crews from those squadrons which were temporarily posted to 300 Polish Bomber Squadron.

Any available help would be deeply appreciated...

Regards,
Gregory

I will be at Kew in October. If it can wait until then, and IF I have time, I will try to look for you.

Send me a reminder nearer that date!

That would be really fabulous!
Thank you , Andy!

I am especially interested in records made in June 1944.
There`s a big party of foreign (R.C.A.F., R.A.F, R.A.A.F.) airmen posted in June 1944 to 300 Sqn who created British "B" flight.
I have their names from 300 Son ORB, but some of them may happen to be mispelled or wrong.
That`s why I think, that any other available sources, for example ORB of Squadrons which those airmen were posted from, may be a good material to analyse and compare names of posted airmen.
There`s also another foreign party that joined 300 Sqn in July 1944, but notes in 300 Sqn ORB give only the information that they were posted from 11 Base (probably they had finished conversion course there), so it seems almost impossible to identify the squadrons they came from...
Anyway I will send you a small reminder soon.

With regards,
Gregory

Hi Gregor,

Did you ever manage to find the ORBs for June and July 1944? I am continuing research on a crew that included my friend Sam Dunseith that was transferred from 626 Sqn to 300 Sqn in June and would love to see any info in the ORBs from that time. Thank you!

Hello
You can download the files (pdf) form 540/541 from these Squadrons.
Go to: The National Archives, (London) Documents on line! RAF Operations Record Books 1939-1945.
They are in the AIR 27 series! Easy to search!

Don't waste your money (or time) downloading No. 101 Squadron's ORB for the timeframe in question, Gregor.

After April, 1944 there are no PORs showing postings to and from the squadron. Supposedly, they are in the appendices....which have been lost to time.

Regards,

Dave
